Mumuye

Nigeria

The Mumuye live in northeastern Nigeria between the cities of Jalingo and Zinna, in a region that is bounded by the bend of the Benue River and the Cameroon border, where they cultivate sorghum, millet, and yams. The Mumuye have remained relatively isolated until recent times. Thus Mumuye statuary was not discovered until the 1960s.
