This figure is one of a pair that was linked together by a chain. The two figures would be worn around the neck, so the two figures would be on the chest. They were only worn by very important people, who had high positions in the Ogboni society, that determined the rules of society. The Ogboni society ruled in important matters like problems, judgments, disagreements and crime etc. So this figure was a part of a very important item in the Ogboni Society.
