We are especially delighted to introduce a unique gouache by Corneille created while staying at the infamous Chelsea Hotel in NYC in 1976, depicting Corneille’s muse Natacha with two other women. The creation of the gouache is fascinatingly recounted in Pierre Restany’s great biography of Corneille. This describes Corneille and Natacha’s passionate stay at the legendary hotel in 1976-77… “A lot must have happened in room 422 at the Chelsea Hotel! The image where the masked Natacha, wearing black stockings, poses half-naked in the hotel corridor, will forever remain etched in my memory ”…
